Meet the team
Established in 1905 and still run by the Nimon family today, at over 100 years old, Nimon and Sons is believed to be the oldest established passenger service operation under continuous private ownership in New Zealand.
Nimon and Sons Managing Director, Bill Nimon, and Transport Manager Garth Nimon are both 4th generation Nimon family members to manage the business. Bill and Garth understand the need for outstanding customer service, comfort and safety in the supply of passenger transport services.
Our team of exceptional coach and school bus drivers that represent our company on the road throughout New Zealand are professional, personable and they love their job. Whether it’s collecting your children from school or a group of cruise passengers, conference delegates or wedding guests, our professional drivers are experienced, NZQA-qualified and hold current first aid certificates so you know you’re always in safe hands.
Bill is the 4th generation of the Nimon family to run the business. Living and breathing transport, Bill knows all there is to know about Buses and Transportation. He also understands the concept of customer service and giving back to the community. “My aim is to ensure Nimon and Sons is the “employer of choice” when people are seeking a new job in Hawkes Bay and Taupo. New employees are attracted to our workplace by observing happy professionals in action.” Chocolate fish also help.

Starting out in the trucking industry he made the move to tourism and buses after being a tourist himself on his big OE in the mid 80’s with Elite Tours, Guthreys Coachlines followed by 16 years with Newlands Coach Service were he honed his skills and passion for tourism and in particular the cruise ship industry. After a short stint working for VIP Transport as a controller for the Governments Limousine Service to Operations Manager at Nimon and Sons in 2005, Ian has built close links with tour agents, cruise lines, tourism ventures and Hawke’s Bay/Taupo attractions. Katie is the 5th generation of the Nimon family to work within the business. Katie has recently returned from Auckland where she worked for 2 years in the Advertising industry.
She is passionate about the company's long history, and preserving its reputation within the district. Having worked for Nimon and Sons on and off since the age of 14, Katie has had experience in many different areas of the business.
After studying Advertising and Marketing at Massey University, she knew her place was in marketing and brand management. When Katie isn't in the office, she is at Napier Port welcoming the cruise passengers to Hawke's Bay, and managing the tour and shuttle fleet.
Taupo Depot Manager
Kay meets the needs of our customers in the Great Lake Taupo District, ensuring the right buses and drivers are assigned on time, every time. Taupo is a relatively new depot and was developed after we recognised a shortfall of good quality, safe and reliable vehicles in that region. The region now sees Nimon buses on a number of school runs, corporate charters and golf tours. Although you won’t see Kay behind the wheel very often, it does happen! She’ll drop everything if there’s an issue, urgent job or other crisis to ensure you get your students, clients or delegates to and from your destinations.
Warren brings over 35 years of mechanical experience to Nimon and Sons and has been with the company for nearly 20 years. As Workshop Manager Warren takes pride in the fact our fleet of coaches are well maintained and are in a safe condition prior to signing off any work. This pride and experience has resulted in our fleet being awarded a 5 Star Fleet Rating with NZTA (New Zealand Transport Authority). Along with daily workshop management Warren looks after our comprehensive parts store, ensuring we have the right part for your vehicle so if you want your company fleet or private vehicle maintained by a team who know vehicles big and small touch base with Warren.
